Beauty Routines (Style Files)

This week we're talking about beauty regimes and rituals. How you manage to transform into the stunning creations you all are after awaking from you slumber as sleepy eyed, bed haired creatures. Or maybe how you pamper yourself as you prepare to enter the wonderful world of dreams. Maybe even some of you have a little a mid day routine, to ensure you're looking and feeling your best. Whatever your beauty regime entails, it might be about time you spruced it up, dressed it up, added something new into the mix, or just got organised (something a lot of us have trouble with). So after I go through my, less then perfect routines, that I less than religiously follow, I'll be sharing with you all some helpful hints to spring clean those beauty regimes, and maybe I'll even be energised to change my ways as well!

In the morning I always (try to) wake up early and go for a little walk. Exercise in the morning really does help me feel and stay energised for the rest of the day, plus there's something magical about the chilly morning atmosphere, the prettiest time of the day by far, in my own opinion. After my stroll around my neighbourhood or the local park I arrive home and make a big breakfast. I can become a little preachy when it comes to the very important issue of a hearty breakfast meal, but you should eat it, and no a coffee does not count as breakfast. I drink a tea with my breakfast, then it's time to check the weather and get dressed. Right before clothing I moisturize with the closest moisturizer I can find, to ensure silky smooth and fragrant skin. Luckily for me my school enforces a school uniform policy, so the only real choice I have to make is summer or winter uniform. After I'm sufficiently clothed I look in the mirror, and decide whether sleep has rendered my hair into so much of a birds nest that I cannot wear it out today. Usually it has, so usually I chuck it in a pony tail, a plait or use the miracle of bobby pins to help secure my hair into a somewhat presentable position. I then wash my face, drink another cup of tea and I'm pretty much ready to face another day at school.

My night time routine contrasts a little, it's more about indulgence than practicality. Despite the drought I usually decide to be a little naughty and take a long hot shower where I'll wash with a luxurious vanilla body wash, yum. If I'm feeling a little special, which I usually am I'll use the matching vanilla moisturiser and take the time to really massage it into my pampered skin. I then cleanse and moisturise my face. If I'm sporting coloured nails I'll check them for chips and promptly fix them for a new day. I use hand and foot creams and sometimes wear gloves and socks to bed to really work the creams. Oh of course I brush my teeth, just thought I should add that one in before any judgment comes my way.

Okay so now you're familiar with my routine, here are some things to help get yours into shape to maximise your final results with minimal effort.

Music, Sweet Music

Listen to music while you get you get ready for the long day ahead. Put on a fun, fast paced song to get you feeling energised and enthusiastic for the days events and have a dance around while you get dressed. Your favorite tunes are sure to see your mood soar and improve your outlook on the day ahead. It will have you feeling great, and let's face it when you feel great, you generally look it as well!

Morning or Night?

Which one are you? Do you feel more lively in the night before you go to bed and have trouble staying awake let alone getting out of bed in the mornings? Do you thrive in the mornings and feel your energy levels dropping as the night progresses? Find out whether you prefer the morning or night and work around it. If you're a morning person you can get up earlier, spend more time beautifying your lovely features and making sure you've got it right.. On the other hand if you're a grump on awaking, maybe it's better to organise the night before, get your clothes out and ready to quickly slip into, have your schooling equipment ready in your bag, just be ready!

Stick To It

Get up at around the same time each day and try to stick to your routine, even if you do it a little loosely at times. This helps create efficiency when getting ready as you become familiar with the regime. In no time at all you'll be doing it in your sleep, and I bet that sounds appealing to a lot of you!

Indulge Yourself

Once or twice, okay maybe even three times splurge a little and add something special to your routing. Whether it be a steaming hot, luxurious bubble bath, a creative make up choice, or that really expensive spritz of perfume that you may have "borrowed" from your mum or sister. It's always nice to feel pampered Don't become trapped in your routine, mix it up a little and treat yourself to a bit of indulgence. You deserve it!
