Some Spice to Your Symposium (Decor Room)

Another fun thing to do that will really spice up your party is to get a piñata. They add a lot of fun to the atmosphere at a party and everyone can enjoy one, young or old. Of course, the candy always helps too! Buying one will set you back about $15, depending on where you buy from. You can buy them here. However, as with the mini paper lanterns, you can always make your own.
You will need:
Flour
Water
Paper
A balloon
Candy
Twine (coloured if you can get it or you can brighten it up by tying coloured bows to it)
There is an instructional video on Youtube as to how and you can find that here

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to make my own this time as all my craft supplies are packed up ready to go off to university but the pictures of more homemade stuff will return shortly. I did, however, find this little beauty on the internet:
""

Something else that they don’t suggest putting in the piñata on the video is confetti but it’d be a good way to add a bit of sparkle to your candy as it falls out and it’ll give it a more celebratory theme. Remember to hang your piñata from somewhere strong enough to support it while it’s being smacked around.

Let’s Start Off With Some Decorations (Decor Room)

This week’s theme is summer parties. I know what you’re thinking, “I don’t have a special occasion to celebrate.” Who cares? You can have a party to celebrate something or just to get together with all your friends. So, whatever your excuses, let’s break out the streamers and cake and have a ball. I’m going to be talking you through decorations (for a reasonable price, of course) and games to play.

Mini paper lanterns: Personally, I love these. They’re inexpensive (I bought mine for £2 at a local jumble sale) and they add a wonderful summery feel, especially to small rooms where there isn’t a lot of light coming through the windows. If you’re feeling extra creative, you can make your own! Here’s how:
You will need:
Fairy lights
Origami Paper (you can get this for as little as $3 on Amazon)
To watch this instruction video on Youtube:

OrigamiBalloon

I chose this video because it’s very informative and simple. I did make my own origami balloon and the end result is below.
""
It’s just a plain one and it’s not very good as it’s my first ever attempt at origami but the principle does work!
Hopefully, when you’ve finished yours, it will look a lot more colourful and square!

Eastern Inspiration: Go On A Decoration Adventure! (Decor Room)

Have you ever wondered how to give your bedroom an Eastern flavour without going overboard? You've come to the right place!

Colour...

Eastern bedrooms are all about colour! Rich, beautiful pinks, reds, golds and orange. Anything warm and romantic, that's what the decor is all about. Walls are often painted a deep purple or red, so before you do this you need to be sure. But rule number one: Go bold, sensual and rich or go home!

More is More...

Eastern bedrooms are not about simplicity: you need to go all out. There is a strong focus on the bed - experiment with scatter cushions and throws. There is no such thing as too much. If you can drape some fabric, decorate your headboard or throw in some cushions in 10 shades of pink, don't hesitate to do so. Some of the popular decorations include candles and Eastern symbols.

Light in Darkness...

Light in your bedroom is very important. Because the colours are typically heavy and dark, you need to place emphasis on natural and artificial light. Placing decorated lamps around the room, and making sure you can let some sunlight in during the day is essential.

Beauty on a Budget?

Eastern bedrooms can be very expensive. They typically require a complete make-over, especially if your walls need to be painted. Can it be done on a budget? Definitely. With some careful planning and knowledge of bargain shops, you can go out without drying up your bank account. The idea here is to use one piece to build your room around. Perhaps you decide to splurge on a bedspread, and then DIY everything else. You can easily make beautiful photoframes and decorated lamps with some jewels and a bit of creativity. Pillows like these come in many rich colours but won't break your budget. You can then, however, splurge on a bedspread like this and build your room around that.
