Bleeding
Hymen, Pregnancies, and Holes, Oh My! (Sex Ed 101)
Mika, 17 writes...
My boyfriend snuck into my house last night and things just got so hot. We started doing stuff. Well I'm not supposed to have sex till I'm married and since we can't have sex, we decided to do something else. We decided to just rub his dick against my vagina and I think sperm came out of it and I'm SO scared I might be pregnant now. Can this happen? Can I get pregnant because of doing that? And I don't let him finger me much because I don't want my hymen to break yet, but yesterday when he was giving me head he put his finger into a hole. I don't know if it's my vagina or any other hole (is there any other whole near the vagina?) and when he did it, it hurt. Now I'm scared he broke my hymen. It didn't bleed though. Do you think its broken? In my culture I should have the hymen to prove I'm still a virgin and I'm so scared I am pregnant because of the rubbing we did. Please Help!! :(:(Brittany says...
Alright, well there are a few issues to tackle here, so I'll start from the top.
Sure, you can be pregnant. Is it likely? No. See, if you have a penis near your vagina, with semen on it... there's always a possibility that those little swimmers can find their way to a little egg waiting to be fertilized. Anytime two naked bodies and semen come in contact with each other, there is always a possibilty. Even if it's a tiny, tiny possibility (which in this case, it is), it is still a possibility. If you are not ready to deal with the consequences, abstain from doing something that could possibly get your pregnant.
Next thing to tackle... Your hymen. I understand some cultures look at the hymen as a way to prove you're still a virgin, but many other things can tear your hymen before sex. Participation in sports, horseback riding, and other activities can cause it to break and you would never know. Some women aren't even born with one that's intact! Aside from that, you probably won't feel your hymen breaking and you might not even bleed. Plenty of women don't.
And the third and final thing we need to touch upon is the anatomy of the female genitalia. It's my personal opinion that if you don't know your own body, you shouldn't be letting somebody else get to know your body... There are a few "holes" located in your genitals. Let's look at a diagram.

As you can see, you have your vagina (where the penis goes). You have the urethra (not technically a hole that anything should be going into - this is where urine is excreted). You also have your anus (where the feces is excreted). So, your boyfriend could have either placed his fingers in your vagina or your anus... he may have been rough, which is why it hurt. He may have used more than one finger, which is why it hurt. There are plenty of reasons why it could have hurt, even the theory that he broke your hymen. However, there isn't a way that you can tell on your own if your hymen is intact, that's something a doctor could tell you.

Blood Without a Cause (Sex Ed 101)

Okay, I've been with my boyfriend for a year now and we started kissing and we have our clothes on and everything, but when I check my underwear there are a few drops of blood even though he didn't even touch my vagina. Is something wrong?Brittany says...
This is a little bizarre. If your boyfriend isn't touching you, even through your clothes, and you're bleeding after being around him... something's wrong. Does this only happen at certain times? It could be spotting from your period. Does it happen everytime after you're fooling around with your boyfriend, or randomly? I'm not a doctor, so I can't help you much, especially without any more information besides this. I doubt a doctor will even be able to help much without asking more questions and getting more details.

Bleeding After Sex (Sex Ed 101)

Okay last Saturday, I had sex with my boyfriend and I'm on birth control. He shot sperm in me and ever since then I have been bleeding on and off. What does this mean?Brittany says...
Things we know: You had sex. You're on birth control. Your boyfriend ejaculated inside you. You've been bleeding since "the incident".
Things we don't know: Is this your period? When was your last period? Did your boyfriend use a condom? Was this rough sex? Do you take your pill as directed (at the same time every day, never missing a pill, and been on it for more than a month so far?)
I'm not a doctor. I don't know why you're bleeding. I don't know a lot of things about you and I can't really answer your question with a solid answer that I have enough faith in. I can tell you that you could be pregnant, since your boyfriend ejaculating inside you does put you at risk. Something internally could be torn and that's resulting in blood. You might just have your period.
Unless you go to a doctor, you'll never know. I suggest making an appointment to be sure nothing is wrong.

Could I Be Pregnant #58938430 (Sex Ed 101)

I had sex on January 3rd, and then this past Sunday((a week later)) I started to bleed very lightly. This continued Sunday to Monday, and today (Tuesday) it stopped. Could I be pregnant? We used a condom and he said he didn't find any holes in it. I know that this early there are few, if any symptoms, of pregnancy but I won't have my period for two more weeks.Brittany says...
Sure you could be pregnant. The only safe sex is no sex, so there's always a risk. You took the necessary precautions and the only way to find out is to wait and see if you're late - then take a pregnancy test.
Medications and Your Period (Sex Ed 101)
So the last time I had sex was on Jan 1, 2010, used a condom, he pulled out etc. I started on depression medication a couple days later and have been on it for a little over a week now. For two days now I've been spotting even though I was still taking my birth control pills. My period is supposed to start in 4 days. I've checked the side effects of the depression medication I'm on, and it says nothing about spotting. I've also been nauseous. The nausea can be from the medication, but I haven't spotted in probably 7 or 8 years... do you know if there is any way this could be a side effect of the drug or if this sounds more like pregnancy?Brittany says...
I really doubt that you are pregnant. Unfortunately, medications can really screw with your period and especially birth control pills. The interactions between your pills could be causing spotting and/or nausea. Your best bet would be to consult the prescribing doctor to either of your medications and express your concern. A pharmacist would be able to help you with this to, if it's too difficult to contact a doctor.Tags: bleeding, sex, birth control pills, spotting, depression, medications
