Favorite British Bands:
I am falling more and more in love with Vampire Weekend the more I listen to their album! They're not exactly FROM the UK, but they sing in a British accent, and that's close enough. =) Most people have probably never heard of them because they're not that mainstream yet, but they're gaining popularity quickly and they have been on MTV. They just hit it spot on with their "feel good" music- I love it. "A-Punk" is probably their most famous song right now, but anyone who's interested should also listen to "Oxford Comma" and 'M79". I'm seeing them live in June and I can't wait!
PINK FLOYD ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite British band (and my favorite band in general) ever is Def Leppard. They're a 70s/80s band, but they're still making music today. In fact, just last Tuesday they released a new album (Songs From the Sparkle Lounge) and it's INCREDIBLE! I've seen them live 4 times and I even met 3 of the members, including my idol, Phil Collen.
My favorite British bands are McFly, Busted, Son of Dork, and Fightstar. Even though Busted and Son of Dork broke up, I still love listening to them and I'm still obsessed with thier music. McFly is awesome!
Help for Lynn!
Reponse to Lynn: a synthesizer is usually attached to a keyboard, but the synth allows the keyboard to produce a huge range of sounds (it doesn't necessarily have to be the standard piano-keyboard sound) and many bands use it to replicate sounds that they can't normally make on the guitar and whatnot. To see and hear the difference, you can go on youtube.com and check out peeps who play crazy synth solos to hear the difference for yourself. A keyboard is a standard piano keyboard, and a synthesizer has electric knobs and sliders and stuff =D

" alt="Abby" width="80" height="80" class="left" />Hey! My name's Abby and I'm the columnist here at Music Mania! I am 16 years old and I love music. I play the violin and sing in chorus at school. My favorite bands right now are: Paramore, James Blunt, KT Tunstall, and Silverstein. I love punk rock and alternative but I'll listen to anything you give me. My other hobbies include drawing faces, running, the color green, romance novels, and fashion. And currently the love of my life is Paris (I visited over the summer and I loved it)!
Abby's comment: Thanks so much for clarifying that!!
