DIY Junkie
A page to share DIY experiences with other crafty readers.
Hey everyone, Samantha here... I just wanted to let all of you know that this will be my last update for DIY Junkie. I've been a columnist for over a year and a half now and am starting to feel like my reservoir of ideas is running dry. I'll be over at Web Wanderer if you're looking for me. :). Keep on crafting <3.
Some great Springtime photography
I live in a village that is surrounded by two main woods and some hills. The other week me and my boyfriend went for a walk up on the hills and I took my digital camera. Here are some of the results!
Record Bowls
So my senior prom is coming up soon and our theme is of a city, particularly New York, at night. As part of the theme we needed a centerpiece for the tables. The area where people will be sitting will be decorated as a "Hard Rock Cafe" which will be quite cool. We needed something that would work with the theme, so I came up with the idea of record bowls with LED lights in the middle.
Most of you probably already know how to make a decent record bowl but for those of you who don't, here is a tutorial.
All you need is an old record (one that you've decided you don't want), a fairly large bowl (depending on how wide you want your record bowl to be) and an oven. Preheat your oven to about 200-250. Place your record on top of the upside down bowl so that it's sticking out around the edges. Put it in the oven for about 5-10 minutes. When you take it out, immediately start to shape it. It should not be too hot, but touch it lightly at first to make sure. You should let it cool for about 10 minutes upside down just to make sure that it doesn't loose its shape. But that's all there is to it.

Samantha's comment: Your pictures are beautiful. I especially love the ones with the lamb. They lighting is great on all of them. Really good work.
