My POV

I like home improvement shows, but I get very bored by them. I find that, the ones that are done the cheapest are usually the coolest looking because they use different things then the usual store-bought stuff. I have never found a project that matches what I would like to have in my home or room, but I have found great ideas from them. I think it is obvious that the people who host the show don't actually do anything, they're there for the scenes and glamour. There's people who work behind the scenes who do all that work. My brother works in construction, and he was once on Curb Appeal. His back was in every shot, he was working the whole time, and he told me, the host didn't do anything. I can't remember who was hosting that particular episode now. I also noticed that the tastes are a bit... eccentric, and that it's not very realistic on what people would like. That's just my opinion, I'd like to know another point of view on this too. Truffles

Home Improvement Shows

As someone who is young, broke, on my own, and not a home-owner, home improvement shows really don't do much except remind me about all of the things I don't yet have. Many of the really big suggestions and improvements the shows make are things that'll have you, at a minimum, forfeiting your security deposit for if you're renting a place. I also find that so many of the designs and things they do all tend to look the same, and if you don't like new-age and hipster designs you're kind of out of luck! Janet, 21 from California, USA
Home Improvement Shows are entertaining on Sunday afternoons when you have nothing better to do. I don't think they're very realistic. Most of them use expensive products and huge construction teams and interior designers to help them, so I really don't feel like I could use their tips in my room. Lana, 18 from South Africa
Home improvement shows... Well they are entertaining for a while. But after watching so many, it does get kind of old. I suppose it really depends on the show. I'm not a huge fan of Trading Spaces, but I love While You Were Out. Really, it all depends on what spin they put on it. Some of the stuff they do is pretty impractical and weird, but I suppose it'd actually be really cool to be on the show if given the opportunity, and they do keep people entertained.

On another note, I LOVE Home Improvement with Tim Allen! I grew up watching that show. *smiles* Julia, 16 from Pennsylvania, USA

Truffles's comment: I love Home Improvement too, but only because I've been catching those re-runs on Nick at Nite.

Abercrombie?

I have a question! My mom has agreed to do my room for me since we just recently moved. Anyways, I want an Abercrombie theme (not one to advertise for them), I love the feeling that I get in the actual store, have any ideas? LC, 17 from Utah, USA

Truffles's comment: I feel very embarrassed saying this, but I have never been in an Abercrombie store. Do any other readers have any tips on this? Could someone explain to me what type of theme an Abercrombie store has? I'll be doing my research so that I can give you some ideas on this, so don't worry, I will be trying to help you, I just need to do my research.
